Analysis

After years of patient rebuilding the Celtics looked like they had the right cards in their hands to make the decisive leap and put themselves as frontrunner for the NBA championship.

In a few months the hopes of the Celtics Nation have undergone a drastic downsizing: the playoffs ended abruptly with the elimination by the hand of Antetokounmpo and his Bucks, the honeymoon with Kyrie Irving concluded prematurely with his escape in the Big Apple side Brooklyn , the Anthony Davis sweepstake concluded with Unibrow landing in LA, Al Horford signed by the rivals Sixers.

Kemba Walker was the best possible replacement for the sudden gap in point guard but still remains a downgrade compared to Uncle Drew, while the departure of Horford replaced by Kanter brings a drop in defensive effectiveness. The contribution of Aaron Baynes, excellent defender in the painted area and gorgeous back-up center who preferred to enjoy the Suns of Arizona, will be missed as well, but the growth of Robert Williams or the experiment Tacko Fall could reduce the pain.

Underestimating Celtic pride is never a good idea, but the Basket Maniacs forecasting algorithm sees a drop of 3 wins over last season.
